About the Book
A Frog In My Throat is the debut picture book from Chel Hill and Kelli Hill, the creative sisters behind the Jette & Jo story world.
The story follows Jette as she prepares for an important recital but suddenly feels something strange — like a frog sitting in her throat. Her voice squeaks, her confidence wobbles, and the stage suddenly feels very big.
With encouragement from her sister Jo, her teacher, and her mom, Jette learns something important: feeling nervous doesn’t mean you can’t be brave.
Sometimes bravery simply means trying again.

What Kids Will Learn
Designed to spark conversations between kids, parents, and teachers, A Frog In My Throat helps children:
Recognize and name nervous feelings
Practice positive self-talk
Understand that courage means trying even when you're scared
Build confidence in speaking, performing, and expressing themselves
The story also includes a simple reflection activity encouraging kids to identify how they feel and imagine their own “brave moment.”

Because being brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared.
It means you try anyway.
